“I think I can, I think I can…”

Standard

I want to take that “dare to care” that Ruth encouraged me to do,

But I feel so safe,

On cozy Tempur-Pedic with blankets

Warm and secure

I pull my comforter down under my chin

and

Spy snow… drifted like sand dunes

Outside— glimmering, radiantly

Beckoning me to

Unfurl my covers that protect

My heart,

My mind,

My soul,

I take the leap,

Click on the Zoom.

I’m tethered to my girls

with frayed cords that bind us

as we

abide

 in

HIM.

For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.

Matthew 18:20

Bookish Encouragement, by Ruth Ayres

    • Right now I’m praying that you enjoy also. In a few weeks our snow and deep freeze won’t feel fun… but can’t go anywhere without the shot…so I still feel content inside and skiing. XO

  1. Love the flow, images, and spareness here, Nanc! The radiant glimmering snow, beckoning you to leave warmth and protection to be vulnerable … lots of layers here. It is certainly a metaphor for love, as expressed in the “frayed cords that bind” you to your girls (I think: “blessed be the ties that bind”). That leap to click on Zoom – I know that feeling. I have to tell you that “abide” is one of my favorite words. It is deep and powerful. I come away renewed, reading your words. ❤

  2. I have that card too! Through Ruth we became friends, isn’t that amazing?! As our temperatures plunge and snow is expected tomorrow, I am right there with you snuggling, safe and secure. I am so happy to read your words and continue to be connected.

  3. LC… somehow I knew you’d remember that card. I’m sorry that I couldn’t get to your Zoom celebration. I am so happy for you and when the pandemic breaks…maybe again someday. XO

  4. I’m going to be thinking about these lines:
    Unfurl my covers that protect

    My heart,

    My mind,

    My soul,

Oh, they are such good imagery and excellent truth.

And the card! Oh my! It makes my heart smile.
    xo,
    ruth
